Embodied Movement
Embodied movement is body led movement.
It is a practice of using what you know about your own body,
coupled with your present moment experience to guide your movement.
Embodiment is living in loving relationship with your body.
Embodied movement takes the whole person into account
Bring your whole self to your lesson.
Our bodies are our vessels through which we navigate our lives. I believe that our physical form is inherently connected to our psychological, emotional, and spiritual selves. The physical is the mental, is the emotional, is the spiritual.
If our bodies are inherently connected to all other aspects of ourselves, then healing our bodies and our relationships with our bodies is a doorway to healing our psychological, emotional and spiritual selves as well. Our lived experiences change and develop as our bodies change and develop.
Everything is connected.

There is a lot of confusing information out there about how to use your core and how to strengthen your pelvic floor. I teach this work from an anatomical perspective, reconnecting the relationship between the breathing diaphragm and the pelvic floor, in addition to offering functional applications of this core work. This series is comprised of five 1:1 lessons. You will leave with both an intellectual understanding of the anatomy of the core, as well as a felt sense of how and when to recruit these connections.
This series is for you if…
You are curious about learning to use your core more efficiently
You want to know how to apply core strength to your activities or sport
You have spinal issues including surgeries, spinal conditions, scoliosis or want to avoid surgery
You have low back or neck pain
You’re planning on being pregnant and want to proactively support your core, or you have been pregnant and want to rehabilitate your core
You have any incontinence issues or pelvic floor dysfunction
You have pain associated with your menstrual cycle
You have a hernia or diastasis
Pelvic Floor & Core Series
5 x 60 minute sessions, $500

"I have learned more in a few months’ work with Vida than I have in years of physical therapy for a bad back. Vida’s knowledge of body mechanics is amazing. She can explain, in easy to grasp phrasing, subtle changes that make a world of difference. I wish everyone who has body challenges could have access to her help." - Sue W.

Why Pilates?
Pilates as a tool in your embodied movement practice.
Pilates was the first movement practice I experienced that gave me the confidence to start using my body differently in my everyday life. It has been a key practice in my own journey of embodiment.
Pilates is a method of therapeutic exercise developed by Joseph Pilates in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Pilates was a pioneer in the areas of fitness and physical therapy. He designed a variety of specialized equipment to facilitate the development of proper joint alignment, muscular strength and flexibility.
The core principles of Pilates are:
Uniform development
Muscular strength, flexibility and coordination.
Joint alignment and decompression.
Full breathing and a healthy core.
Conscious, flowing movement.
At Body Sense, we use Pilates in concert with functional fitness, rehabilitative exercise and Yoga to provide a broad range of options so that this movement is accessible to everyone.
